Free half-day seminar: Making planning applications under the Localism Act Thursday 9 February 2012, Exeter Central Library
This free morning seminar, which is aimed at planning consultants and architects who make planning applications, will explore the changes to be made to the planning system by the new Localism Act, and how this will change your approach to development proposals and the planning application process.
In particular it will cover the following areas:
National Planning Policy Framework and local development plans: applying the new policies and plans
The presumption in favour of sustainable development: what will this mean in practice and where does good design fit into this?
Costing out the development: the impact of the community infrastructure levy and planning agreements
Consultation before applying for planning permission: what does consultation entail and what influence will locals have on the ultimate development proposals?
The morning will consist of an informal presentation on these topics followed by a question-and-answer session. Delegates will then break into small groups to discuss how these changes to the planning process will affect the way in which they advise and take instructions from their clients, with feedback to all the delegates.
